Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-14

These terms govern your use of CAST (Content Automation & Story Tool), an independent, open-source application. By using CAST — the web version or the standalone app — you agree to these terms.

The service

CAST helps you generate narrated short-form video from a story: text-to-speech narration, burned-in captions, and rendering over a background clip. It runs entirely in your browser or on your own computer. CAST is provided free of charge, "as is," with no uptime or support guarantees — see No warranty below.

Your content and accounts

Publishing to YouTube

If you connect a YouTube channel and choose to publish a video, by clicking "Upload" (or enabling automatic publishing), you certify that the content you are uploading complies with the YouTube Terms of Service (including the YouTube Community Guidelines). Please be sure not to violate others' copyright or privacy rights. CAST is not responsible for content you choose to publish, or for any consequence of publishing it (including account actions taken by YouTube).

Acceptable use

Don't use CAST to generate or publish content that is illegal, infringing, harassing, or that violates the terms of any third-party service CAST connects to (your AI provider, your TTS provider, YouTube). Don't attempt to abuse, overload, or reverse-engineer any service CAST talks to on your behalf.

Third-party services

CAST connects to services you configure yourself — AI story-generation providers, cloud TTS providers, and optionally YouTube. Your use of each is governed by that provider's own terms, separately from these terms. CAST is not a party to your relationship with those providers and is not responsible for their availability, pricing, or behavior.

No warranty

CAST is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The developer does not guarantee CAST will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of CAST, including any loss of data, content, or access to third-party accounts (including YouTube).

Changes

These terms may be updated as CAST changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.

Open source

CAST is open source. You can review exactly what the code does at github.com/YourAverageCow/CAST.
